Reading mode and AMOLED theme

Two new themes: a warm, paper-coloured reading mode that is easier on the eyes, and a pure-black AMOLED mode for OLED screens.

Long reading sessions in a dictionary are normal — a full definition, examples, your own notes. Two new themes make them easier.

Reading mode

A warm, paper-coloured background instead of bright white. Less blue light and less glare, which is more comfortable in the evening and during long reading sessions.

AMOLED mode

A pure-black theme. On OLED and AMOLED screens black pixels are switched off completely, so the app looks deeper at night and uses less battery than an ordinary dark theme.

Both are chosen in Settings next to the existing light, dark and follow-the-system options, and apply everywhere in the app — search lists, word cards, notes and training screens.

Available on Android for now.

How it works

1 · Open Settings
Settings is at the bottom of the navigation drawer.
2 · Pick a theme
Reading mode and AMOLED sit next to light, dark and system.
3 · Applies instantly
No restart; every screen switches at once.
